Exhibition of analog photography presented by students from St.Kevin’s College soon at MadArt Gallery.

To date my work has revolved heavily around the exploration of oil paint as a medium, its versatility and its surface quality through the use of oil mediums, applications and work methods.

The core theme in my work is the idea of playing with scale and ambiguity. I generally work from everyday objects but I have recently started to construct small paper maquettes, using these and sketchbook studies the work evolves through detailed drawings and experimentation arriving finally at a stage where the forms on canvas resemble negative space. The aim of working this way is to veil the connection between the painting and source material from the viewer.The show will take a place from the 24th of May to the 14th of June 2012.

MadArt is an independent artspace located in central Dublin surrounded by the most popular hostels and hotels, established in 2008. Very convenient location (close to the LUAS and Connolly DART station) makes it an ideal place for any art event. More than 90 m2, divided into three rooms with high ceilings and victorian windows makes a perfect creative environment.

Have a party with a difference! 

We run very fun, classy, sophisticated private life art classes for hens night, girls night out, birthday, office party or any other celebrational occasion to create art.

Enjoy glass of wine and finger food with inspiring music in the studio of a well known artist at MadArt Gallery. Dare to be an artist for a night and draw the male model ( yes, naked! ) with the guidance of one of Dublin’s best art teacher.

This art class is designed for beginners and is easy and lots of fun.

We arrange the studio, model, tutor or workshop leader, materials and everything else for you. Your part is simply turning up to draw and have a great time!

Nude Life Drawing is a truly unique activity to kick off your celebrations. You’re learning something new and having fun!

Your session lasts for approximately one hour and the male model will adopt three poses (20 minutes each), namely a side profile, a backwards pose and finally a frontal pose.

All sketches will be judged by the model and he will choose a winner who will get a discount for an acrylic painting and drawing course run at MadArt Gallery. So go on, bring out your artistic side in you!

Activity based on minimum 10 people.

PhotoIreland returns to MadArt Gallery!

Due to massive success of last year’s ‘Four Floors’ group exhibition, MadArt announces another amazing photographic feast and invites all photography devotees to their beautiful, old Georgian venue, which once again will be converted into a massive art-space.

The exhibition will be held from 12th of July to 19th of July 2012.
The opening night will be held on 12th of July 2012 at 6pm.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

The show will be a fantastic opportunity for both professional photographers and talented enthusiasts to present their work to a wider audience and be a part of acclaimed PhotoIreland Festival 2012.

The main idea behind the show is to provide artists with unique space and give the audience and exceptional chance to experience variety of styles and individual approaches to the photographic medium.

The event is organised by gallery owner Sofia Monika Swatek and curated and co-ordinated by photographer Karol Liver. The show will be supported by prism Photo Magazine.

A participating fee of 40 euro will be collected ONLY from photographers selected for the show.

3 pictures of up to A3 sizes will be accepted and covered in hanging fee.
Larger prints can ONLY be accepted after discussing the matter with the gallery owners (additional charge for using more space can be added)

This new body of work explores my own personal experience with my urban surroundings. Through the analysis of the patterns of my everyday existence I engage directly with my surroundings and in the process uncovering and celebrating overlooked corners of my urban environment.

I seek new ways of apprehending my surroundings, transforming the familiar streets of my everyday experience into something new and unexpected.

ARTIST INFO:
Oginally from Co Kerry, I now live and work in Cork City. I graduated
from the Crawford College of Art and Design in 2008 with a B.A honors
in Fine Art. Since then I have taken part in both group and solo shows
in various exhibitions and arts festivals.

The exhibition will take a place from the 4th to 11th of May 2012.

MadArt Gallery is proud to present Estonian artist Ulla Juske’s first personal show in Dublin. Gatecrasher is a thought provoking story about unknown figure invading the artist’s personal space.

I received a postcard, it was addressed to me, but was sent anonymously. It had a picture of me walking on the street in the front and a philosophical text (later learned to be a quote by Ludwig Wittgenstein) in the back. I received a similar postcard every day for a month. There was no harm done to in any way. Yet somebody was watching, following and photographing me. Somebody was gatecrashing my life…

The show will take place from 5th to 12th April 2012.
